It seems that League City, TX was made with families in mind. This rambunctious little city near Galveston, in southeast Texas, doesn't blow its own horn much, but people are discovering it nonetheless. In the last few years, League City has outgrown its famous neighbor. One reason might be that parents raising children want options when it comes to schools. In League City parents find those options, from the usual public schools, to independent religious schools. Other school options include an alternative school where teenagers receive more one-on-one time and are encouraged to think outside the box. There is even a museum dedicated to schools and education. At the West Bay Common School Children's Museum, a teacher goes through her lessons, writing slate and spelling bee included.1 But school wouldn't be complete without recess. So off everyone goes to the Barn Museum for recess. It isn't all head games in League City, though. They know how to relax, Texas style.

Current Initiatives
Strong communities foster strong individuals, and the City of League City is dedicated to keeping their community a thriving one. Residents often don’t consider the inner workings of their city governments, nor do they often have a way to find out more about them, but the new League City outreach effort from City Hall plans to change that. City Hall in the Park will host casual monthly meetings during the summer, open to all, with updates from the city manager and question and answer sessions with residents. For more information and for a schedule including times and locations, call (281) 554-10055.
